Brian Boxall

Independent Chair – Havering Safeguarding Childrens Partnership

Brian Boxall is the Independent Chair of the newly established Havering Safeguarding Children Partnership.

Until his retirement in 2007 he was a Police Officer in Surrey Police. He reached the rank of Detective Superintendent and for the last 6 years of service was the forces lead for public protection. This included child and adult protection, domestic violence and dangerous offenders. He was a member of the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) domestic violence group and was responsible for the introduction of the Surrey Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC).

Since 2007 he has worked as an independent consultant on safeguarding and has been commissioned to author and chair both children and adult Serious Case Reviews and Domestic Homicide Reviews.

Professor Jenny Pearce, OBE

Independent Scrutineer – Havering Safeguarding Childrens Partnership

Jenny Pearce is Professor of Young People and Public Policy at the University of Bedfordshire, UK where she works with The Safer Young Lives Research Centre. She runs an international university network advancing engagement with children and young people in research on sexual violence. She is a Visiting Professor at Goldsmiths College, London, and an International Senior Research Fellow at the UNESCO Child and Family Research Centre, NUI Galway, Ireland. She is a trustee with The Association of Safeguarding Partners (TASP) and works as an Independent Scrutineer with Local Safeguarding Children Partnerships.
