The independent review of children’s social care in England has released its final report. It has recommended that a category of Family Help should be introduced to replace the “child in need” and “targeted early help” work. It also suggested that an expert child protection practitioner should be involved in the Family Help Team when concerns about a child’s welfare emerge. Families should also be invited to develop a plan to care for their child before a decision is made regarding their placement in the care system
